The paper focuses on Urban Renewal of New York City 1949-1972. It is divided into three parts to represent the history on Urban Renewal of NYC, including its beginning, extension and the effects in the end. In the process of Urban Renewal, kinds of stakeholders and a number of organizations were involved, and their performance of intercommunication was so interesting to deserve excavating. Moreover, the role of several special figures should be paid more attention to.Chapter One gets to background and origin of Urban Renewal of NYC. It is necessary to cover the academic definition of key words. In the postwar years, there were a grean many social change in NYC, then, the City took on an irrevocable monument toward urban renewal itself.Chapter Two goes into the prim nary programs of Urban Renewal of NYC. The Housing of Act 1949 declared beginning Urban Renewal nationwide including New York City. More, the renewal activities had an effect on amendment of related Federal laws in turn. Again, Levittown pattern is a good recommendation on suburban community.Chapter Three approaches the Urban Renewal of NYC at larger. This Renewal unfolded its wings between in the middle of 1950s.and mid 1960s. The programs on public accommodation which provided transportation, community facility, art performance, landmark conservation, etc., are discussed in detail.Chapter Four discusses comedown of Urban Renewal of NYC. At the late of 1960, various social movements made a great interception on Urban Renewal. What's more worse was lack of money and civil support. Finally, it's high time to cease by the Congress.At last, a conclusion is reached that NYC manifested its own attribute of Urban Renewal. And its experience can be used as a precious source of reference.
