Evaluation And Analysis On The Competitiveness Of Pharmaceutical Industry In Zhejiang

Medicine is closely related to the quality of human life, it not only has social benefit but also economic benefits. Whether from the perspective of domestic economic development experience, or from the western countries and regional economic development process, pharmaceutical manufacturing industry is playing an increasingly important role in regional economic development. Enhancing the competitiveness of pharmaceutical industry and promoting the development of pharmaceutical manufacturing have become the focus of attention and pursue. As an important region in eastern China, it has a strong theoretical and practical significance on evaluating the competitiveness of pharmaceutical manufacturing across the country accurately and scientifically, making the development status and level of competitiveness plain, analyzing the factors of medicine manufacturing industrial competitiveness in Zhejiang, and providing relevant government departments and pharmaceutical manufacturers with useful strategy.Based on consultation of industry competitiveness evaluation index system at home and abroad, this paper establishes the evaluation system of the developments of the pharmaceutical industry in Zhejiang, and it also constructs the regional pharmaceutical industry evaluation index system considering the characteristic of pharmaceutical industry and the procurability of the data. Then, using principal component analysis and hierarchical cluster, the pharmaceutical industry competitiveness of Zhejiang province was evaluated and analyzed. This paper is divided into six chapters. The first chapter named introduction, set out the purpose and significance of this study, introduce the basic ideas of the paper, and the methods of research, the structure of the paper, the major innovation and lack are also introduction. The second chapter introduces the basis theory of industrial competitiveness. Basing on the previous work, the third chapter establishes the evaluation system of the developments of the pharmaceutical industry in Zhejiang. Then it also proposes the regional evaluation index system. The system includes five factors as follows: The strength of scale, the productivity of research, the rate of growth, the capability of operation, and the support of public finance and financial institutions. Then, this chapter also introduces the analysis: principal component analysis and hierarchical cluster. In chapter four, first, this paper made an introduction of developments of pharmaceutical industry in Zhejiang. And it pointed out that there are some problems in strength of scale, capability of R&D, structure of industry and so on. Then, the data collected is objective analyzed by principal component analysis and cluster analysis using SPSS. Using principal component analysis, four components were proposed, namely, scale power, industry efficient, research and development capacity and financial organization support to research and development. The pharmaceutical industry competitiveness of each province was sorted in these four components and synthesized competitiveness. Using hierarchical cluster, all the provinces in China were divided into six categories according to their industry competitiveness,and the competitiveness and characteristic of each province were analyzed and evaluated combining the factor score of each province. And Zhejiang not only can find something to reference study in this analysis and evaluation, but also its competitive position. There are some countermeasures and suggestions for Zhejiang to enhance its pharmaceutical Industry in chapter five. In the sixth chapter, it puts forward the inadequacies of this article and its outlook.
