In recent years, under the background of informationzation and the globalization, the design industry already has been produced in the global economy and has the considerable development in the global economic, it becomes the recent round development priorities of more and more countries. As China's developed area, Jiangsu has superior manufacturing base. Research on the design industries and manufacturing industries in Jiangsu province, has certain representativeness and plays vital significance on promoting the sustainable and healthy development of economy and realizing the promotion of the industrial structure.In this paper, according to the development of the design industry in Jiangsu , a comprehensive analysis of the situation at home and abroad and the present research about the design industry is presented and the concept of design industry is given out. Because there is no unified definition and diameter in statistical aspects, it is difficult to discuss general statistical data of the design industry such as production,diameter growth and profit margin etc. This paper applies industrial diamond model for the development of design industry in general multivariate modeling. According to the principle of characterization of many factors, this paper treats practical new-type patent license number as data of design industry development in Jiangsu province and discusses the design and manufacturing industry using the research methods of econometrics, with the condition that it is impossible to construct a model for relations between the design and manufacturing industry using the method of comprehensive index.As a new industry, the design industry of Jiangsu is studied about the relationship between the existence of design and manufacturing industry. Furthermore, whether there is linear correlation and regression analysis, whether they have causality relationship, whether a variable for another variables influence direction and size are also discussed. The relationship with the design and manufacturing industries is dynamic on time sequence, so it is required to do sequence analysis and co-integration relationship analysis after finishing unit root test for smoothness of non-stationary data. It also can help to illustrate the interaction between the design and manufacturing industries based on the analysis of using impulse response analysis and variance decomposition when the Granger causality and variable test is finished. This research suggests that the growth in manufacturing industry promoted the development of design industry, and the promotion of the level of the ascension tech-intensive industry has obvious effect on the design industry. It is also founded that the effect is not obvious on making progress for the growth and high grade structure of manufacturing industry for the design industry.
