This article is disscussed on the middle and lower reaches of Tao river with acomplete geographical environment and a close cultural exchanges as the researchobject, which selected Qing Dynasty of more obvious contrast between pre-and postwith a clear times, significant efforts of agricultural development and more pressureof environment as the explore time. The author has disscussed on the agriculturaldevelopment and the process of ecological environment changes from the perspectiveof historical geography, and made an effort study by an integrated approach ofregional historical geography in methodology.The full text consists of three parts, the first part includs the first and secondchapters, which is the introduction,the base and background of the development, andthe author has primarily disscussed the reasons and significance of topics presented,and reviewed the academic history and research methods , at the same time listed thearea's natural features and the developed background and policy.The second part consists of the third to the sixth chapters,the third chapterdiscusses the population development affecting agricultural development in this area,and systematically do population statistics and estimates on Didao state (county),Minzhou (Guardian), River State and Weiyuan。As a result,the author think thatdiding records before the mid-Qianlong was only tax records,not population data,andthe population data was more credible after the mid-Qianlong period。And at the sametime we do more further estimates on the basis of the original data according to thecertain demographic theory on the population of the mid-Qianlong area estimate。The fourth chapter discusses the technology choice of agricultural development of thisregion in Qing Dynasty, systematically discusses hydraulic engineering and irrigationtechnology of this region in Qing Dynasty; Take the corn and the potato as theexample, discusses the introduction and improvement of crops variety; Discusses thehome court agricultural plows technique in Qing Dynasty; Discusses the naturaldisaster affecting agricultural production in this area as well as the preventionmeans.The fifth chapter discusses agriculture development achievement comprehensively in Qing Dynasty obtaining from the fields area which manifests theachievements of agriculture development, preliminary estimates yield per mu, andelaborates the contribution of agricultural development to the local social economy.The sixth chapter elaborates the character of agriculture development from manyaspects in this region and the ecological environment vicissitude. Thought QingDynasty's agricultural development has enormously destroyed ecological environmentin this area, which is worth taking warning for the posterity.The seventh chapter is the third part. Carries on the reconsideration to the QingDynasty agricultural development in this area, The author think that we shouldappraise productivity objectively about this area;ecological environmental protectionis the foundation of agricultural development,;the stable political situation and thegovernment policy are security of agricultural development.
