Research On Economic Growth Disparities And Factors Between Municipal Districts In Hebei Province

Neo-classical growth model asserted that regional economic growth will ultimately converge in the long term. But, the research from home and abroad show that, the convergence for economic growth has not formed the unified conclusion and remains controversial.As the eastern economic province, natural conditions and economic base are not identical between municipal districts in Hebei, therefore, it is necessary to test its economic growth convergence, measure the degree of convergence (or divergence), and analyze the factors which have led to this convergence (or divergence). Accurate knowledge of hebei's regional economic disparities and factors is useful to evaluate the economic development strategy in hebei province, also it can provide certain reference for the regional economic policy and for goals of " accomplishment from a big economic province to a economic strong province" and "Promoting the region economy coordinated development" in the twelfth five-year plan.This paper is divided into six chapters. The first chapter is introduction, firstly it expounds the background, significance, summarizes the main content of this article, research methods, and introduces the innovation points and the insufficiency, and finally it defined the concepts such as regional economy disparities, economy convergence and region economy coordinated development. The second chapter is regional economy disparity research literature which summarizes and comments three aspects:Does China's economy growth exist convergence? the factors of China regional economy growth disparities and regional economy growth disparities in Hebei province. In the third chapter it statistically describes the trend of economy growth disparities between municipal districts of Hebei in recent years, and it found that absolute disparity expanded and relative disparity shrined, then, it forecasted the trend of economy growth disparities between municipal districts of Hebei through R/S analysis which calculated Hurst index, and it found that the disparity will expand. In the fourth chapter it tested economy growth disparities between municipal districts of Hebei with Barro regression model, and found that there did not existσ-convergence,β-convergence and club convergence. In the Chapter 5 it puts forward the analysis frame of factors caused regional economy disparity, and it analyses the various specific factors which caused economy growth disparities between municipal districts of Hebei theoretically, then, it analyses the degree of factors which affected regional economy disparity with multivariate linear regression, at last it found that there exit five main factors which caused economy growth disparities between municipal districts of Hebei:historical basis, regional economic policy, the industrialization level, opening-up and government participation. The sixth chapters are proposals. It analyses theoretically the four factors:regional economic policy, the industrialization level, opening-up and government participation, and puts forward the concrete countermeasures which will narrow economy growth disparities in Hebei province.
