| Intra-industry trade, which is based on the imperfect competition and scale economy, is the main form of world trade, and occupies a very important position in Chinese international trade. Trade can be classified into commodity trade and service trade. For a long time, commodity trade is the main part of Chinese international trade. But the development of service trade is also the key point to improve Chinese trade competitiveness. Transport industry is a traditonal industy, and occupies a large proportion of service sector. From the perspective of intra-industry trade, a depth research on the the influence of transport services' in intra-industry trade to its international competitiveness is carried out in this paper, which can provide reference for improving international competitiveness of transport services.After doing the summary of relevant theory about intra-industry trade and international competitiveness, the current development of transport services is analyzed using trade data from 1985 to 2008. Then a qualitative analysis base on the Micheal Porter's dimaond-framework on influence of transport services' intra-industry trade to its international competitiveness is made. Meanwhile, through introducing the transport services' intra-industry index and revealed competitive advantage index, the quantitative analysis is carried out to analysis the influence of transport services' intra-industry trade to its international competitiveness, using simple regression and multiple regression. The result shows that the development of intra-industry trade can promote the upgrade of transport services' international competitiveness, whether considering intra-industry factor alone or introducing other influencing factors. Countermeasures and suggestions on how to improve intra-industry trade are put forward at the end of this paper, so as to enhance the international competitiveness of Chinese transport services. |
