Research On International Competitiveness Of Transport Service Trade Of China

With the development of economic globalization, the international business become more and more prosperous, the transport service trade plays an increasingly important part in international trade. With the rapid development of the international trade in goods, transport service trade of China keeps increasing. Trade volume of transport service rose from US $ 9063 million in 1998 to US $ 70200 million in 2009:export volume rose from US $ 2300 million in 1998 to US $ 23600 million in 2009, transport service export volume counted for 9.63% in the service export volume of China in 1998 and counted for 18.51% in 2009, increased by 10.26 times; import volume of transport service rose from US $ 6763 million to US $ 46600 million, the proportion in the service import volume of China maintained stable. The above figures show that transport service export makes smaller contribution to the service export of China, while the transport service import makes larger contribution to the service import of China. With the rapid development of transport service trade, some related problems are appearing, such as the transport equipment of China is unadvanced, the ocean transport ability is inadequate, professional training is insufficient, transport service trade modes lack diversification as they mainly contain sea transportation, the scale of domestic transport enterprises are universally small and the structure is unreasonable, large transport corporations are not competitive enough, the carriage of both domestic and international trade is mostly accepted by large foreign transport companies, government policies towards domestic enterprises are insufficient and so on. All of these problems hamper the development of the transport service trade of China and the improvement of competitiveness. This paper analyzes the transport service trade status quo with the index of both the transport service trade of China and Revealed Comparative Advantage, compares the competitiveness of domestic transport service with that of other countries, researches what causes the deficit of transport service trade of China on the base of Diamond Model. It gives some related countermeasures and advices, such as to strengthen the equipment facilities and the training of professionals, to improve the quality of transport service; to promote powerful sea transportation strategies comprehensively and the development of other transport mode; to develop related supportive industries; to improve corporate strategies; to enhance the competitiveness of transport enterprises; to enlarge the support of government, for example, to provide favorable environment for the development of the transport service. These advices are expected to have valuable revelations for the development of the transport service trade of China.
