Home appliance industry is one of support industries in china and now it has also become the most competitive industry. But the industry is also confronted with competitive pressure more and more after joining WTO. So we are up against an important problem that how we should do to enhance the competitive ability of home appliance vocation. Moreover, the improvement of competitive power relies on the efficiency elevation of the industry in the final analysis and the technique efficiency is the core of efficiency. Therefore there would be a very realistic significance if we have a demonstration test and analyse on the technique efficiency of listed home appliance companies which being the representatives of the whole trade. The paper uses Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) technique and Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) technique to review the technical efficiencies of the 19 listed home appliance companies, and then has a quantitative analysis on the the corporation factors which have a basilic influence on the technique efficiency of the corporations perhaps. The author has done five things: Firstly the study uses the DEA and SFA approaches to get the technical efficiencies of the listed companies and then breaks down the technique efficiency into pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency. Secondly the author finds out the best companies and indicates other efficiencies. Thirdly using slacks analysis to find the redundance of input and deficiency of output. Fourthly employing the Malmquist Index to weigh all sorts of productivity change indices of listed companies from 2001 to 2004 and then analyzing these indices furthermore. Fifthly the author using SFA model and censored samples model to analyze the corporation factors that affect the technique efficiencies. The study has drawn some conclusions as follows: Firstly the average technical efficiency of listed home appliance companies annually is steady. Secondly DEA model reveals that pure technique inefficiency and scale inefficiency both lead technique inefficiency, and pure technique inefficiency is always ascending but scale efficiency is always descending in the four years. Thirdly as to the whole home appliance industry the increasing returns to scale are present, and we must attach importance to the problem that the scale of most listed corporations is too small. Fourthly almost one half...
