Study On Management Of Continuous Innovation And Discontinuous Innovation Based On Technological Growth

In this paper, technological innovations are classified into continuous innovation and discontinuous innovation. After the 1980s, because continuous innovation can improve the core competencies of the corporations and can easily be managed or controlled, many scholars made a lot of researches on them. But, recently with the rapid development of emerging technologies, both the existing corporations and the rising corporations are face with the unheard-of uncertainty. And the discontinuous innovation has played an important role in the technological leapfrog and economical catch-up of developing countries. So, discontinuous innovation has increasingly become one of the focuses of the overseas researches.Scholars have put forward the concept of the continuous innovation and discontinuous innovation, but they have not come to an agreement on the standard of notional demarcation. And they have not compared the two innovation modes in detail. The study on how to manage the two innovation modes effectively has been immature.Based on the summarization of the research production by other scholars, this paper compares and analyses the conception, mode, and characteristic of continuous innovation and discontinuous innovation. An important demarcation standard of continuous innovation and discontinuous innovation has been put forward-the sameness of technological trajectory and technological paradigm.The abuses of which discontinuous innovation or continuous innovation is paid excessive attention are discussed in this paper. And this paper indicates that the unilateral comprehension of innovative essence will result in the"one-sidedly management"in the innovative practices of the corporations, equally they only paid attention to the so-called important things. Then this paper expounds the technological pitfalls and its cause of formation during the technological paradigm shifts.After these researches, this paper focuses on constructing the managing system of continuous innovation and discontinuous innovation based on the technological trajectory. Combining the management of continuous innovation and discontinuous innovation, continuous innovation and discontinuous innovation are managed by stages during the whole processes of technological production and shift.
