China's reformation and openness has been stepped these years. But, within the pattern which financial industries are managed and supervised dividually, the serving level and whole competing power are far less than financial industries of western nations. Also, the financial resources have not been used optimally. Besides the problems above, risk is easily centralized, which is not contributed to the steady healthy development of the whole financial industry. In order to avoid these problems, financial holding companies came into being. They were derived from beneficial practices on system and service of domestic financial institutions. While, current supervision has not provided integrity arrange on regulation. The supervision to financial holding companies is in exploring phase. Because of this, researching the development of financial holding companies, especially how to supervise them looks very necessary.Firstly, the thesis analyzes the meaning and character of the companies, putting emphases on the risk of the companies applying economics theory, such as behalf collision, risk infection, reducing transparency, pick-up in financial security net. Based on this, the thesis investigates the developing pattern, character and the main risk. Then, the thesis discusses the main supervision strategies overseas in the view of key concept, pattern and system. At the same time, it analyzes the current situation of the risk supervision in our country comprehensively, which explains difficulty and problems intensively. Finally, based on the experiences overseas and according to the practical character of our country, the thesis provides the broody route on how to strengthen risk supervision to financial holding companies in the view of supervising system emphasis and correlative strategies.
