Since the reform and opening-up, the international direct investment, which is a key in attracting foreign capitals, has contributed a lot to the economic leap of our country. When promoting our economic development, however, it also brings it some negative factors. In the future process of attracting international direct investment, we should take its advantages and avoid its disadvantages. Based on this kind of consideration and combined with some hot topics in our current economic development, this thesis makes researches on the question of international direct investment and the economic sustainable development of our country.This thesis consists of:Chapter One: Theories on western international direct investment. This chapter at first analyses the connotation of international direct investment, which is a kind of transnational invest activity with changed managing right based on change of essential factors of production. Then it analyses the evolution and development of the theories of international direct investment. The early theories included the theory of interest rate and neo-classical theory, which were the origins. The present theories on international direct investment include the theory of monopoly advantage, theory of product period, theory of oligarch, theory of comparable advantage, theory of internalization, theory of compromise of international production, and theory of combination of investment induction factors or comprehensive motivation theory. At last, this chapter briefly values the theories of international direct investment.
