Educational service trade, a new vital field in international trade, is the outcome of educational internationalization and service trade and is the indicator of one nation's international competitive power. The relationship between educational service trade and economic growth is significant for deepening China's educational system reform, attracting excellent foreign educational resources, and optimizing China's educational structure. It can serve as the guideline for optimal exerting China's educational service comparative advantages.Based on the connotation of educational service trade, this paper demonstrates the internal mechanism of educational service trade spurring economic growth from aspects of direct trade effect and indirect human resource effect. The paper analyzes systematically the current situation, competitive power and comparative advantages of China's educational service trade. The analysis shows that China's opening extent of educational service trade is broader than other developing countries and is developing fast as a new industry. At present the main problems of China's educational service trade are trade deficit and weak comparative power, which resulting in large gap between China and developed countries. The traditional comparative advantages of China's educational service trade are Chinese language and iatrology study as well as the better factor endowment advantages compared with other developing countries.In addition to theoretical exploration of China's educational service trade, the paper proves the role of educational service trade on economic growth by adopting data and econometrics methods and tests the human resource effect on educational service trade in an empirical way. It can be concluded from the analysis that that not only long-term equilibrium exists between the educational service trade and economic growth but also the short-term growth in educational service trade can bring about the economic growth effect. China's educational service trade has direct and indirect effects on economic growth. The former is embodied by trade effect while the latter is the increasing supply of educational service and upgrading the whole level of China's human resource. To improve China's international competitive power, it is necessary to deep open educational service fields, actively tap international educational market and to perfect institutional structure of educational service trade regime. Therefore it is quite significant for promoting China's educational service to vigorously develop educational service trade.
