Along with the socialism market system, small enterprises are one kind of basic economic forms, it play more and more important role and function in the economy of China. The design of the compensation motivation system for small enterprises is a significant job. But in more than 20 years of Chinese reform, most study and design are paid more attention to state-owned enterprises, the research on small enterprise is very less. Therefore, the study about the compensation motivation for small enterprises have high application values.Given a view about recent research fruits at home and abroad on the compensation and motivation, this paper generalized theories that the small enterprises can use. Then review the forms of compensation motivations and analysis the characters and key compensation motivation problems in small enterprises, the author give the short-term compensation motivations important roles in small enterprises.The paper pays more attention to the design of the integrated and systematical short-term compensation motivations than just analyze advantages and disadvantages of one single motivation form. Firstly analyze the basic factors on the short-term compensation system, provide the process of establishment. Then, basis on two important factors——demands of persons and life cycle of small enterprises ,the author design concrete,specific ways of compensation motivation, solved the weakness of former motivations. So ,the paper have important reference value to the small enterprises.On the last part of the article, the paper introduce the short-term compensation motivations for W company Ltd. which is a management project the author participated in. In the whole course of project investigation and design of compensation system, the author summarize the progress and key points in designing the short-term compensation motivation .Through this, the author use and prove the researching result in the paper.
