Globalization has been influencing the evolution of metropolis. The Duel Metropolitan Globalization Theory assumes that developed and developing countries share different bur correlated urban space patterns. The locating of foreign direct investment, which is one of the significant forces in the process, reflects to a certain extent the globalization's spatial effect on metropolis.This research empirically analysis the intra-metropolitan location of foreign investment and its correlated factors in the 1990s' Chinese metropolitans, in which the spatial differences among the industries, scales and origins are compared. The aim of the thesis is to reinforce the study of metropolitan globalization in the developing countries and strengthen the foundation of urban spatial strategy and policy facing the global competition. What is expected is not only to attract more foreign investment but also to guide it to realize urban planning goals.
