It has been more than one year since CAFTA was fully activated in 2005. Because former cooperation among developing countries to become regional integration proved not easy to become successful, we have some doubts about the future of CAFTA. However, after CAFTA was started, bilateral trade boomed. This paper adopts the method of descriptive statistics and tables and graphs, and the subjects of such analysis are bilateral trade statistics of China-Asean from 2001 to 2006. Analyzing bilateral trade structure, we exam the competitive trade effect, complementary trade effect and intra-industry trade effect. The study shows that China and ASEAN have intra-industry trade in agricultural products, products of chemical industry, electromechanical products and optics and medical equipment; China and ASEAN trade complementarily in resources products and labor-intensive products; As for agricultural products, primary chemical products and some electromechanical products, China and ASEAN trade competitively. According to the above research, two aspects of suggestions are put forward: micro-suggestions, macro-suggestions.
