Along with the rapid development of domestic economy ,tourism and populace traveling, as well as the convenes of 2008 Olympic Games and 2010 Shanghai world fair, the market has a much stronger demand for comfortable, clean, convenient and economical hotels. As a result, in recent years, economy hotels emerge in our country's major and medium cities. A new kind of hotel forms in our country but developed very maturely overseas. Both the domestic and foreign investors both have paid attention to this domain. The economy hotel is a kind of form which is opposite to the traditional full-service hotel, taking populace travelers, middle/small businessmen and students as main service object. The economy hotel whose core product is the guest room has reasonable price, standard service and comfortable and clean environment.At present, Beijing's economy hotel is at the starting period. On the one hand, it has a broad developmental prospect; on the other hand, it exposes many problems in the process of development. How to survive in this intense market competition? How to construct the economy hotel to guarantee its health, fast, stable development? These are all the problems we have to deal with. Therefore, we should be clear about the connotation and the characteristics of the economy hotel, analyze the problems during its development situation, and finally find the solutions.In order to promote the orderly and sustainable development of Beijing's economy hotel, unifying the development condition of the domestic and foreign economy hotels, this article summarizes the characteristics of the economy hotel and attempts to give the economy hotel a preliminary concept; analyzes Beijing social and market conditions to develop the economy hotel; and proposes countermeasures and suggestions for the development. Part l(the 1st chapter): research background and significance; reviewed the development and research conditions of domestic and foreign economy hotels.Part 2(the 2nd chapter): through analyzing the problems exiting in understanding of the economy hotel, this part proposes the connotation of the economy hotel. It is a kind of hotel which has a small investment and scale, and takes guest room as the core product, and neat, clean, comfortable, sate as the characteristics. The hardware of the economy hotel approaches two or three star class hotels.Part 3(the 3rd , 4th chapters): Through analyzing Beijing's social and market conditions to develop the economy hotel, as well as the SWOT analysis, gives a synthesis appraisal to Beijing's condition to develop the economy hotel. The demand market is huge, but the effective supply is insufficient, simultaneously the opportunity is bigger than the threat. The economy hotel has a good development opportunity in Beijing.Part 4(the 5th chapter):puts forward some views on developing economy hotels in Beijing mainly from the aspects of product positioning and market positioning, human resourcesmanagement, deepening enterprise culture, the construction of brand and group .Part 5(the 6th chapter): taking "Home Inn" as an example ,analyzes its development strategy andchallenges and provides advice for other economy hotels.Part 6(the 7th chapter): conclusion.
