With the rapid development of the Internet and the global economy, online business has come into being. The numbers and types of the websites are increasing, and the function of the website is getting stronger and stronger. But the usability of the website has become very important, and it is an element that promotes the online exchange and website construction. Especially at present, facing such websites as online-auction, e-shopping, e-mail and so on, the authoress takes e-mail website as her research object and does some research on its usability. What's more, the authoress hopes she will develop a set of "the usability evaluation system of e-mail website" to regulate the usability construction of e-mail website in China.At present, as the development of e-economy is not mature, few research has been done in the academic field on the present situation of the e-mail construction, limited in technology mostly, seldom focusing on "the usability of the e-mail website". Based on the document review, we can see, firstly, most research focus on the usability of ordinary website and lack the research on the usability of various types website. Secondly, as for research perspectives, researchers mainly take a technological perspective to study the usability of the website, though few researchers take views from other fields, yet the elements they provide are loose and unsystematic. It doesn't consider the construction of the website usability from the user's view and does not consider the characteristic of many subjects and many fields in the fields of the usability research. At last, the present research in the website usability field of our country is superficial and mainly is a theoretical research based on foreign research. Therefore, the conclusion of the research is inappropriate and inapplicable for e-mail websites in China.On the perspectives of systematic and unitary, the authoress makes a localized study on the usability of the e-mail website, using theoretical and deduction and empirical research methods. Firstly, the authoress reviews the research on "the usability of website", and summarizes some research perspectives, methods as well as conclusion of former scholars, and then puts forward her own study hypothesis. Also, the authoress constructs a set of system concerning the usability evaluation of e-mail website, and tentatively develops a scale which provides a new localized tool for evaluating the usability of our e-mail websites. Secondly, the authoress adopts the in-depth interview and questionnaire investigation to correct her research hypothesis, evaluation system and scale. At last, the authoress draws her conclusion which can provide significant theoretical suggestion for the construction of the e-mail website's usability.This paper puts forward a set of evaluation system for the usability of our e-mail website for the first time from a consumer-oriented perspective. And the authoress draws a conclusion that technology, system structure, culture, marketing, and service are important indexes to improve the website usability, of which culture and service are the most important ones. The authoress provides some indexes which the website provider needs to pay attention to, and she hopes to provide some useful suggestions to advance our construction of the e-mail website usability through this study, and can do some contribution to the standardization of the e-mail website usability construction.
