With the growth of our country's economy in a high speed, as well as urbanized advancement, the request of passengers'going on a journey conveniently is becoming higher and higher. This makes the road transportation mode no longer meets the requirement of the intercity passengers. Meanwhile, in order to adapt the railway to the need of the development of our society and separate passenger transportation from cargo transportation, the construction of special transportation line for the passengers has been becoming the effective solution for the current transport capacity insufficiency and the low transportation quality. With the appearance of the intercity track transportation, traditional road passenger transportation will face a really big challenge. There will be a fierce competition between intercity track transportation and highway passenger transportation.Not only the same service provided by intercity track transportation and highway passenger transportation, but also the higher construction speed of intercity track transportation, which will have a big impact on the road passenger transportation. Therefore, basing on the competition between the two passenger transportation modes, analyze the road passenger transportation competitive advantage and its strategy, which will have a very practical significance for the development of road passenger transportation.Basing on having read relative reference, through the survey, and also in view of the competition between the two modes, this paper proposes some strategy for the road transportation to deal with the competition, utilizes both qualitative and quantitative analyzing method to make the research on the two transportation modes'competitive advantage, and has got certain result. The paper divides into seven chapters, the content of the chapters are as follows:The first chapter introduces the purpose and significance, the domestic and foreign research situation, the content and method of the paper. The second chapter first introduces the construction of track transportation and the factors that influence the choice of the transport tool; and then introduces the relationship between the two modes according to different transport distances.The third chapter first constructs the appraisal target according to the survey data; then processes the target with AHP, establishes the AHP model, proposes the analysis method; then concludes the specific factors and their application area; finally, elaborates the analysis method based on the convenience of traveling, which contains the reason analysis for the factors that affect the traveling tool choice, quantification estimate of the convenience influence, and the road passenger transportation market share calculating.The fourth chapter first describes the background of two transportation modes'competition model, as well as the technical performance compares between them; then, proposes the modeling route, limits superior and inferiority, service area critical point, service area boundary and superior service area; then, assumes some factors for the sake of decreasing the interfere of the less important factors; then, establishes graph model to reflect superior area of intercity track transportation, determines the related parameter, carries on the model revision from the ticket price view so as to do the model solution; finally, introduces the analogy analytic method based on the time value to forecast the future market share of road transportation. The fifth chapter takes the passengers between Guangzhou and Shenzhen as the investigation object, processes the data with AHP model, gets the result of the two modes'competitive advantage; then, calculates the respective superior service area of the two modes between Guangzhou and Shenzhen; utilize analogy analytic method based on the convenience of going on a journey and time value to calculate the market share of road transportation lines which include Zhuhai to Guangzhou, Zhuhai to Shaoguan, and Zhuhai to Wuhan after 3 or 5 years since the intercity track transportation construction has been finished. Then it concludes the basic strategy for the road transportation to deal with the intercity track transportation after the analysis.The sixth chapter emphasizes the summary of the paper and induces the issue that should be carefully studied in the future.During the process of the research, the paper combines the qualitative method with the quantitative method, which makes the level looks very clear. The paper manifests certain fresh idea in the following aspects:1. Apply the graph model to the issue to reflect the respective superior service area of the intercity track transportation and the road transportation vividly.2. Basing on the AHP model and the time value competition model, the paper proposes the analogy analytic method based on traveling convenience and time value to forecast the future market share of the two transportation mode.
