The Research And Application On The Asset Management Of Ningbo Port

With the development of market economic, competition between the ports is very keen, especially in the fields of lines, vendors, hinterland, information and service of the ports which are in the same area. In order to survive in such environment, port enterprises are improving their core competencies in miscellaneous ways.Asset is one of the key points of the port enterprise management for all ports are capital-intensive. With effective asset management, improving asset efficiency and cost down, port enterprises can achieve the reliability of asset operation and maximized profit which are both supportive and conflict with each other.Ningbo port is the second largest one in China. With the rapid development of Chinese economic, Ningbo port will be better and better during the eleventh five years plan. The research of Ningbo port is essential.This paper includes five parts. The first chapter is the introduction, which is about the topic of the improvement of asset management and core competences. The second chapter discussed the theory of enterprise asset management, including modern theory of the asset management, theory of the information system development and practice, and that of EAM system. The constitute, characteristic and effectiveness of EAM system is the key point of this chapter. The history, current status and development trend of Chinese port are presented in detail in chapter 3 and suggest that informationlization is the goal of port asset management in China. The 4^th chapter emphasizes on the introduction analysis of Ningbo port, the asset management situation and some management problems, which indicates that the way to solve the problems in current asset management and improve the core competences of Ningbo port is to practice the EAM system.
