Abstract/Summary:
With the development of globalization, international trade has become an important approach to the economic increasing, especially for the developing countries. But at the same time, it also brings challenges and impingements. Therefore, international trade is always considered as a"double-edged sword". Since the reform and opening-up in 1978, international trade of China has obtained a huge achievement, which brings the remarkably economic development. FDI and international trade have both become impetus of the economic increasing.Based on the review of the previous research, this thesis applies"TI", the traditional index, to the calculation of openness in China and several correlative countries, such as America and Japan. Then, as a new exploration, this paper also adopts another three indices,"ADTI","ADJTI"and"Dollars", to recalculate the openness of these countries. It demonstrates that different measure methods would result in different conclusions. This thesis introduces analytical method of econometrics, and sets up a model basing on the Cobb-Douglas function, to carry out a regression analysis focusing on the impacts of various indices on China's economic growth. Empirical results illustrates that, among the four openness indices mentioned,"TI"is the most suitable one to depict the trade openness in China. At last, this paper analyses the relationship between economic growth and the trade openness in other countries and gets the conclusion that different index may suit different country. Consequently, we should choose the appropriate index to study openness and do the international comparison, which is most relative to the corresponding country.
