The Comparative Research Between Shanghai And International Harbor Cities

Shanghai has been one of the most important cities in China. And Shanghai is trying its best to be international cities. The harbor is the key engine to development of the economy of city. In the world, many megalopolises have been developing its economy depending on the harbors they have.A harbor can not only bring massive material, financial and human resource flow, but also provide a powerful resource gathering ability. Furthermore, the harbor will increase the development of manufacture industry in the nearby area. Therefore to become a international harbor city is the Shanghai's primary development target. Development of the harbor has intense relationship with internationalization and modernization of the city that harbor is located.After comparison between index of Shanghai and standards on internationalization and modernization in the world, the gap can be found, from the point of view each in knowledge modernization and economy modernization and social development modernization. To evaluate the internalization standard, we analyze the development of economy, infrastructure , harbor status development.To be an international harbor city is the aim of Shanghai's development and construction. This article chooses international first-class cities as comparation like Singapore, Hongkong and Rotterdam, and makes a comparative research between Shanghai and international first-class harbor cities on the present and historical dynamic changes of modernization and internationalization in terms of the social economic data of development during the past decade.From the point of view in economic structure, public facilities, scientific city management, the style of economic development, the reason for the gap between Shanghai and international harbor cities can be found. And suggestions would be put forward correspondingly. By the comparative research, the article reveals Shanghai's gap margin, and absorbs the useful experience for reference to Shanghai's development.
