China is the biggest developing country in the world while the United States is the strongest developed country. Since more than one century, the USA has been the strongest economic entity in the world while China is one of the four greatest economic entities and is still developing very fast nowadays, which creates great opportunities for the cooperation in economy and trade between these two countries. Since the Sino-American relationship was normalized, the economy and trade between these two countries has developed very quickly and has a good prospect. In 2005 America became the second trade partner of China while China was the third partner of the United States. However, the developmental track in economy and trade between these two countries shows that there existed trade conflict and unharmonious elements although the cooperation in economy and trade has developed well in the past years. Therefore, more study should be made on Sino-American relationship in economy and trade and useful experience should be concluded from it, which help maximize favorable factors and minimize unfavorable ones and make it develop quickly and healthily. Under this situation, this article focuses on analyzing and studying Sino-American relationship in economy and trade from the perspectives of its developmental foundation, current situation, characteristics, conflict, developmental prospect, etc. it includes six parts.The first part is preface, which illustrates the practical and academic significance of this article, the current situation both in China and abroad, problems to be solved and new contribution of this article.Part two describes the developmental foundation and current situation of Sino-American relationship in economy and trade. The developmental foundation is illustrated from the perspectives of history, politics and economy. Then the necessity and feasibility of the development of Sino-American relationship in economy and trade is analyzed from the perspectives of both parties. In addition, this part also makes a detailed explanation about the stages of development in economy and trade between these two countries and American investment to China as well as the phenomenon in different stages. The characteristics of Sino-American relationship in economy and trade is analyzed in part three. After analyzing the current situation of their relationship in economy and trade, this part summarized the general characteristics of Sino-American relationship in economy and trade with exhaustive data, pointing out that the whole Sino-American relationship in economy and trade is permeated with the three features: politicization of trade, the fast development and the complementarity of this relationship. Following that, the trade characteristics was summed up from the perspectives of trade balance, trade status, trade structure, trade mode and trade conflict. It also concluded the features of American investment to China from its changes in regions, industries, efficiency and purposes.Part four analyzes the conflicts in Sino-American cooperation in economy and trade and reasons that produce the conflicts. It summarized the different developmental stages of conflict in economy and trade between these countries from the conflict phenomenon, factors that produce the conflicts and the different effects that conflicts produce. Furthermore, it points out that the previous microeconomic conflict in trade and economy between these countries has developed into macroeconomic and structural conflict. What's more, the reasons that produce the conflict are analyzed from the economic and political perspectives. The economic factors that produce the conflict in economy and trade between China and the USA are unsymmetrical interdependence in trade, unbalance trade, America's control of the export of high-technology to China, trade protection, the status of non-marketing economic country and China's shortcomings in trade. It further illustrates the political factors behind economic factors from political systems of China and America, ideology, social culture, the need of political struggle in America and the interference of anti-China American group.The prospect of Sino-American relationship in economy and trade is discussed in part five. It summarizes the Sino-American relationship in economy and trade and searches for its mainstream by analyzing the current situation, characteristics,, conflicts and favorable factors in economy and trade between these two countries. It assumes that more close cooperation in economy and trade is still the mainstream, which is the inevitable outcome of mutual complement, mutual benefit and mutual dependency in economy and trade between these two countries. However, we should be aware of Sino-American cooperation in economy and trade while at the same time we must keep clear head about the conflict and its long-term features due to the political and economic fighting between these two countries. Anyhow, whether the trade conflict is controllable depends on the need of economic benefits and political cooperation for both countries as well as their attitudes and orientation to the trade conflict.Part six is the conclusion part, which summarized the main points in the article.
