China-us Trade War Prospects

According to conventional wisdom,trade is not a zero-sum game,and in fact,a positive-sum game.Therefore,how come the U.S.and China trade relationship has resulted in a catastrophic economic trade war that is damaging to both sides? In this thesis,the reasons that are generally attributed to the U.S.-Sino Trade War will be explored,but also an intensive analysis of the trade war from the Chinese and American perspective.The countermeasures of the trade war that was sparked by the trade deficit,the rapid Chinese technological development,and the threat to the U.S.'s hegemonic power,stem from each state's desire to maintain its power and economic growth,which makes for a compromise to be difficult,albeit China would like to increase its economic progress and the U.S.would like to regain theirs.Therefore,additional communication is needed to enforce the U.S.-China relationship before decoupling occurs.Should decoupling occur between China and the U.S,negative set impacts will exist for both countries,and the consequences will be international.Through negotiation,normalization of the economic situation for both countries may occur;but also sacrifices from China,such as State-capitalism reforms and internationalized standards in the business environment,will be necessary to achieve this.
