The Research Of Intermediary Business Development Of Commercial Banks In China

Bank scope efficiency is used to check whether the group of products consumes the least cost. If for one bank the more kinds of products are offered, the less cost will be used, it could be called a bank with scope efficiency. Intermediary business is a development of traditional business of commercial banks. Therefore, improving intermediary business has a great meaning for the business construction and the administration of commercial bank. Analyzing the scope efficiency of intermediary business in China with concrete evidence could show us the evidence of the development of commercial bank, which is both important for the theory and the real business.Researchers from different countries have analyzed the scale efficiency and scope efficiency of bank by various methods and trans-log function has been widely used in the models of research. There are few books and papers of bank scope efficiency in China which only generally introduce the theory and have not paid attention to the relationship between bank scope efficiency and intermediary business.Basing on the achievements of the foreign researchers, the author analyzes the development of intermediary business of commercial banks in China by the way of scope efficiency. By the research which is on the base of regress analysis of the country's commercial bank and the joint-stock commercial bank respectively, the author finds the factors that might influent the intermediary business, such as the conception and the method of management, the human resource and techniques. Finally, targeting the problems mentioned above and taking the actual business situation of China's commercial banks, the thesis presents the solutions to further develop the intermediary business.
