Along with the continuous deepening of the global financial liberalization, the intermediary business of commercial bank was unprecedented development in the stimulation of market demand and financial deregulation. And it has become a profit growth and one of the core businesses of international commercial banks. On China, since the restrictions to foreign banks' operation in our domestic market have been reduced, the competition between Chinese and foreign banks will be in full swing. The intermediary business has severely challenged the traditional banking business model that the expansion of the operating assets and liabilities. It has become an irresistible trend.But in the process, it has not a clear answer that how to develop intermediary business. Especially in China, the commercial banks have been mainly operating assets and liabilities. How to improve intermediary business is a difficult problem that involves how to understand intermediary business, how to make benefits from different intermediary business risks, what constraints the development of intermediary business and how to overcome these constraints in our current economic environment and consumer environment. Therefore, this paper will start with how to understand intermediary business and then introduce its definition, content, business types etc. Through comparison the situation between Chinese and foreign banks operating intermediary business, I can find there is a highlighted gap between them. Then I make a comprehensive analysis of what restrict the development of intermediary business, in order to bring up some targeted strategies.The development of intermediary business involves a lot of aspects, and it is one of the major strategic choices of commercial banks. It may be difficult for me to complete exhaustive analysis in this paper and it also can't emphasize the focus of the paper. Therefore I select four relatively important aspects. They focus on the intermediary business's developing ideas, business organizations protection, pricing, risk prevention and control. Through discussing these issues, I can raise some measures to make the operation more targeted and more feasible.
