The improvement of system and the resource collocation is one of the effective methods for a logistics center to keep its leading position in the market. Because they can satisfy the customers and reduce the logistics cost effectively. But it's proved that there are many uncertain and stochastic elements in a logistics center. So it's difficult to analyze a logistics system successfully and thoroughly in a qualitative way. So an effectively quantificational method is required for the management of a logistics center. The computer technology can contact the real system with a simulation model organically and avoid the shortcomings of traditional experiments. So it becomes more and more popular for the innovation and reengineering. Considering the characteristics of the processes in the logistics enterprises, Discrete Event System method is more available. It can get the most appropriate scheme from the changes of parameters. So it's also effective for managers to make decisions. This paper is supported by the project-The Collection and Distribution Technology Study on Highway Transportation in Western China. Based on the extensive and in-depth investigations, the paper brings forward a multi-layer model for the operation system of the most logistics centers in our country. Via multi-angle analysis in quantitative and qualitative methods, it provides many constructive and comprehensive suggestions for the logistics centers.First of all, this paper introduces the theory of Discrete Event System. After choosing Arena as the simulation tool, the paper introduces the modeling steps and characteristics of the software in detail. On describing the several kinds of resource in the system, the paper discusses the general process usually used in logistics centers to put forward the study. Based on the process analysis, the paper advances a general configuration and describes the indexes used in the model comprehensively. After that, the paper defines the study boundary and sets up the objective of the simulation. Via proper suppositions, an Arena simulation model based on the process of a typical logistics center is established to describe the real system perfectly. After the simulation model is validated, a detailed analysis is done according to the output report to put forward the improvements for the enterprise. Then the paper discusses the service level and cost outputted in the report to defining the control-model for the optimizing collocation of resources. At last, the paper brings forward several feasible suggestions on the simulation output. The novelty of the paper mostly embodies several aspects as follows:1) To overcome the lack of quantitative and dynamic methods for the logistics enterprises, the paper focused on analyzing the comprehensive logistics centers and adopts Discrete Event System method to simulate with advanced software.2) Advancing a multi-layer method and building a general top configuration with Arena to put forward the model.3) Building the simulation model and analyzing the report in depth to bring forward the improvement suggestions; Defining the mathematics model of decision-making for the resource collocation; Using Optquest and genetic algorithm to collocating resources quantificationally; Simulating and evaluating the optimization result. The paper focuses on advancing a new quantitative analysis method for logistics centers and applies it in a comprehensive logistics enterprise. It is very valuable for different kinds of logistics centers nowadays. The study of this paper is a kind of attempt, further research and application is necessary.
