Research On The Technological Spillovers Of Foreign Direct Investment

Foreign direct investment(FDI) is an important channel for most developing countries to utilize advanced technology to realize long-run growth, because packed technology can be transferred through FDI. Our country has practiced the strategy that is changing the technology with the market for many years, try to make the multinational companies transfer the advanced technology to china through FDI. Using the technological spillovers of FDI to attain the purpose of improving our country's technique ability. Leaded at this kind of strategy, the amount of FDI invested by our country is the most among developing countries, and FDI and multinational companies have already occupied the important position in our country. So how to make more technological spillovers of FDI has become the focus problem of the government and business enterprises.On the foundation of reviewing relative literature, the paper analysis on the mechanism of technological spillovers of FDI comprehensively from levels of region and industry, making academic foundation for following statistical research. According to the existing research and academic analysis, based on the original model, and taking manpower capital into account, constructs an expanded econometric model to make a statistical analysis about technology spillovers of FDI in our country.Using 30 provincial dates of Chinese Mainland except Tibet from 1999 to 2003 years, total 150 related dates, carried on a substantial evidence analysis on technological spillovers of FDI of all. As a result, finds that the combine of FDI and human capital makes a positive effect on China' s indigenous sectors, but this promoting function is not very big, national capital is still the main factor. Further respective research on district discovers that the technological spillovers of FDI are positive on both eastern China and western China, and both come to the average level of the whole country. And at western region, FDI also has positive capital accumulating effect on industrial sectors, but this effect is negative on central China, conduced that the technological spillovers of FDI is indistinctive. The result explains that the actual effect of using FDI still needs the further exaltation on central China. Adopting the traditional group-verifying method, using the simplified expanded model, carried on statistical analysis on the key factors, find that the technology gap is bigger, the market competes is more vigorous and the local economic development level is more high, the technological spillovers of FDI is more positive. But opens the outward degree purely can' t promote the actual result of using of FDI in our country. Finally, according to the result of statistical research, put forward some related policy suggestion.
