With the introduction and development of the New Basel Capital Accord, International banksociety incorporates the operational risk in routine management. In the domestic, both banksector and theoretical arena begin to pay attention to the operational management, but it is still inthe tentative phase. The awareness of operational management is not developed well so thatfinancial cases occur frequently. As the frontier of Chinese reform and opening, the reform anddevelopment of its commercial bank advanced before other provinces. However, due to all kindsof reasons, the many operational risk accidences are also representative, which bring substantialloss to the banks. So, the author try to gather and classify the materials coveting the accidencesof operation risk in the banks of Guangdong province, figure out the reasons and propose thecountermeasure from different aspects. I hope that this thesis can provide a little helpfulillumination for the commercial bank sector and theoretical arena and supervision division.Firstly, this thesis introduces the definition, classifications and characters of the risk andreview the development of operation risk supervision. Secondly, according to theabove-mentioned definition and classifications of risk, it classifies and metrics the data that Ihave gathered from the fifty different commercial banks in Guangdong province. And what ismore, with reference to related papers and analysis of operation risk, it summarizes the maincharacters of operation risk and the existing problems. Furthermore, in the third part, the paperanalyzes the causes which lead to the operation risk. Lastly, taking obsolete culture ofcommercial bank, imperfection of ilmer control constitution and incompleteness of outersupervision atmosphere into consideration, using successful experiences for the reference andcombining the practical situation of Guangdong province, it proposes some improvedcountermeasures for the operational risk in bank.
