Make Full Use Of Comparative Advantages Work Hard To Improve Competitive Advantages In Anhui's Foreign Trade

Since its reform and opening up to the outside world, Anhui has experienced a rapid growth and gradual improvement of the economic quality in foreign trade, which has obviously accelerated the economic growth in the province. However, in comparison with other provinces in China, the eastern areas in particular, Anhui still has many problems in foreign trade, such as small overall scale, low dependence on foreign trade and low content of technology in export, etc. Therefore, this paper, based upon international trade theories, makes a detailed analysis of current situation of foreign trade, probes its comparative advantages and put forward the measures to further develop foreign trade in Anhui Province.Anhui Province is in possession of following comparative advantages: beneficial geographic position, rich natural resources, cheap and plentiful labors, convenient and rapid transportation network, relatively developed agriculture, wholesome industry system and strong support of 861 Action Plan, etc. Anhui Province should make full use of its comparative advantages and build its competitive advantages in foreign trade in accord with WTO regulations.The measures to improve the competitiveness and further develop foreign trade in Anhui Province include: encourage foreign direct investment(FDI), accelerate systematic innovation in foreign trade, optimize the structure of the export, diversify foreign trade methods, exploit international markets, and cultivate good environment for imports and exports.
