Amidst the evolution of taxation systems, Property Tax Systems might be very antique.Where properties are invested in throughout the world, we cannot afford to further delay lookinginto and becoming aware of the Property Tax Systems. Property Tax Systems of Taiwan andChina bear their historical backgrounds and elements. Amidst the different political climateand economic environments, the taxation systems that have been developed bear differenttaxation characteristics. These are the key points that this thesis examines.Taiwan and China were virtually isolated from each other for four decades until the 1980swhile people began visiting the land on the other side of the Taiwan Strait as a visitor or investorwhile the other side launched the open reform. Since then, Taiwan investors have come out onthe top in terms of the overall investment. Taiwan has shown a mounting trading surplus withChina. All these facts suggest that Taiwan and China are virtually inseparable from each other. Those Taiwan investors could not afford to overlook the importance to look into the property taxsystems of both sides. This thesis looks into the property tax systems of both Taiwan and China that are currentlyprevalent, including housing tax, land value increment tax, land price tax, farm tax, inheritancetax, deed tax currently imposed in Taiwan, and taxes imposed in China, including estate tax, landvalue increment tax, township land use tax, farmland occupation tax, deed tax and the like. Some tax categories on both sides look similar but some others are vastly different. Incomparison of the Property Taxes between Taiwan and China, we focus on the tax base, tax rate, tax favor, tax exemption and slashes which would be helpful to interested people for furtherprobes and improvements. It is hoped that as the Property Taxes of Taiwan and China becomeincreasingly sound and comprehensive, both Taiwan and China will move forward intoprosperity and team up with each other in the 21st century economic miracle through concertedefforts.
