Research On Strategic Selective Pattern Of Thematic District

The thematic district is not only the public space but also the regional component of a city.It reflects various compound functions of the city. Since the urban tourism has been developingconstantly, the thematic district gradually becomes a hot topic for the urban tourism as it is a newattraction in the city. This research regards the thematic district as the research object. Theresearch analyzes the development paths, the modalities of the districts, the evaluation factors ofthe interior environment and the exterior environment, also and the strategic combinations. Thenthe research establishes the strategic selective model of the thematic district. It provides thetheoretical direction and the estimating tools for the development of the urban thematic district.First, this research defines the basic conception of the thematic district. And it made thedomestic and international literatures summarize on the different types of the thematic districts.Then the article analyzes the developing situations of the thematic district on five developingpaths in detail and five district modalities. It is ascertained the evaluation factors of the interiorenvironment on the orientation factors and the selective elements. Also it is ascertained theevaluation factors of the exterior environment on the outside environment, resources and thestakeholders. Then three strategic combinations are established. Base on the research above,the article establishes the selective strategic model of the thematic district.There is a case study on the Overseas Chinese Town in Shenzhen in this research. The firstpart is the analysis of the historical developing tracks of the Overseas Chinese Town and it showsthree gradual progressive states. The second part is the investigation and the second hand dataanalysis. Base on the results of the investigation and the quantitative analysis, we can get thecharacteristics of the Overseas Chinese Town both on the district itself and the district industries.It is summarized the successful experiences and the existing deficiencies of the OverseasChinese Town. Then the article has established the strategic models of the Overseas ChineseTown on this basis of the research above.
