A Study On The Development Of Tourist Sources Of Religion In Liaoning

Religion attracts a great number of visitors by means of its buildings, activities and cultural legends. Religious Travel brings considerable income to the scenic areas and promotes the development of local tourism in the scenic areas. In 1990s, the"Religious travel fever"has swept China, a large number of tourists have participated in a variety of activities of Religious Travel. Therefore, Religious Travel occupies an important position in China's tourism.Liaoning Province is rich in religious travel resources. However, it is not optimistic in developing the Religious Travel. Except a minority of well-run religious scenic areas, most scenic areas are in the state of recession. For the purpose of improving the development of tourism in Liaoning Province and obtaining positive economic and social benefits, the religious resources in Liaoning Province should be rationally developed.There are five chapters in this thesis.The first chapter is the literature review on the theories of Religious Travel, the current development of Religious Travel in China and the research on Religious Travel by Chinese scholars.Chapter two is about the origin and development of Buddhism and Taoism in Liaoning Province; there are four regions in Liaoning Province: South Liaoning, East Liaoning, West Liaoning, Central North Liaoning, a statistics on the religious travel resource in these four regions is conducted.Chapter three is about the religious travel resource evaluation in Liaoning Province. Firstly, a qualitative analysis of religious resources is conducted, then, a quantitative evaluation on the regional religious travel resources by simplified level analysis method is conducted.Chapter four is about the current development of the Religious Travel resource,the advantages and problems in the process of the development, sustainable development of Religious Travel and the development of the Religious Travel products. Chapter five is a case study of Religious Travel in Liaoning Province. The investigation and research into the Qingyansi Temple is conducted, including analysis on the factors of favorable condition, tourist market, economic influence of Qingyansi Temple, meanwhile, suggestions for better development of the scenic area are proposed.The last is the conclusion of this thesis.
