Research On Manitowoc Purchasing Management Based On Supply Chain

As the basic link of the supply chain between enterprises, the purchasing management is more than traditional manipulation management, it is playing the strategic management function of the modern enterprise .The supplier management under the supply chain management is more than the simple selling and buying relation, it is striving for the long term strategic win-win business partner relationship.The optimization management of the purchasing under supply chain management is not just the optimization of the internal manipulating flow, besides we need to strengthen the cooperation and communication with the suppliers, also needs to pay attention to the outside source management and the improvement of the whole supply chain operating effectiveness and the cost reduction .this thesis is based on the purchasing logistics of the largest crane manufacturing company Manitowoc, studies three issues on the present purchasing process as follows:1. The steel purchasing period is longer, which causes the higher inventory level and the insatiability of the instant demands.2. The supplier assessment method is way too subjective and ineffective.3. The subcontract manufacture process is way too complicated, which leads to the high cost of the purchasing.Given on the three issues above this thesis focus on the works as follows:Presentation of foundation knowledge on the supply chain management,purchasing management and the JIT purchasing ,better the steel purchasing process through the setting up the purchasing information platform, shorten the purchasing period ,inventory reduction.Introduction of the supplier assessment methods such as the AHP and DEA, set up the assessment model based on the DEA/AHP assessment model by the LINGO software to evaluate the supplier.Introduction of knowledge of the BPR, streamline the present purchasing process in order to reduce the purchasing cost.
