City Commercial Banks (CCBs), which came into being and have been developing in a special background, are important part of China's banking. However, CCBs have been facing the growing competition and bearing more and more pressure of existence and development. To seek resolutions for the problem, the thesis tries to focus on the market conduct and competitive strategies of CCBs in the given domestic banking structure. In the perspective of CCBs, we do the study based on the SCP framework in the industrial theories and Porter's competitive theories. What's more, we adapt the interactive and dynamic perspectives and analyze the impacts of domestic banking structure on the market conduct of CCBs and discuss the sound market conduct and competitive strategies for CCBs to adapt. Our first conclusion is that there is high market concentration in domestic banking, with the state-owned banks having more than half of the market shares, while CCBs almost have the least market shares and the weakest market power. The second conclusion is that CCBs have many comparative disadvantages but some special advantages. The third conclusion is about the entrance barriers, which is that CCBs are facing more economic and policy barriers than other competiors, but they also have advantages in regional differenciation barriers.Under the given market structure, CCBs should adapt sound market conducts to improve their conditions. There are two suggestions: (1) Pricing conduct, for which CCBs should improve their operating efficiency and lower their costs to maintenance continuous price advantages. (2) Non-pricing conduct, for which we recommend the tracking and uniting strategies to obtain necessary resources for existence and business mode creation, and the product differenciation strategies to detect further market subdivision and utilize their generally practical product differenciation, such as efficient mechanism, high output per capita, market-oriented goals, outresourcing and business integration.
