For the power company, it can increase their profit by reducing the shut down time, raising work efficiency, and managing of the equipment well and reducing cost at high reliability. In every several years, the equipment unit is shut down for a major repair for check out working situation. If there are problem, the equipment will be repaired and reformed. During this period, a lot of worker, material and tools will be worked on the equipment repair, also the unit will be shut down. Due to the generating equipment complicated, high technique and complication of the work difficulty, the workers need a good plan and carrying out. With the complicated power equipment and the progress on automation, the traditional major repair method has not been suitable the growing demand.The result and plan are different often in the traditional project management and carrying out. Over time, over expense, expansion, short of resource occur is often happened. The reason of problem is the defect of the traditional project management. Such as working time following beta distribution, ignoring people effect in the project and paying on attention on individuals, not on the all, etc.The repair of coal burning unit is a large, complicated subject. It concerns with preparation before repair of the equipment, training, plan, organization, coordinate, control, command work etc. Using modern management idea, measure and method to manage the project of the major repair, especially using the method of TOC theory plan and control on the major repair schedule and get the purpose of shortening repair period, increasing efficiency and quality, reducing cost so as to get profit in the sharply market competition.This article is based on the management method of TOC critical chain schedule to explain the application in the major repair schedule management. At last, using a example explained that this method can be applied in coal burning unit major repair schedule management. For a 600MW coal burning generating unit, it can save 8 days work time, a large number of expense and get great profit by using critical chain method to manage schedule than using common method.
