Research On The Effect Of 2008 Olympic Games To The Growth Of The Economy Of Beijing

Born in the end of nineteenth century, the modern Olympic Movement has become the biggest event with peaceful purposes. Since early 1980s,the commercialization of the Olympic Games has been a marked tendency , and economic benefit has become one of the main targets for the Olympic biding and hosting activities. Hosting the Olympic Games has been regarded as a Universal Panacea for economic development policies. But what is the mechanism for the Olympic Games to impact the economy of the hosting cities? How to analyze these impacts? Whose indicators could reflect these effects? How great is the degree of these impacts? These are the questions that this dissertation tries to answer.This dissertation has two Parts,including fundamental theory analysis and empirical analysis economic effects study .Olympic Games effects on the city's economy development were consisted of positive effect and negative effect. Among the positive effect, the direct effect were composed of the GDP increasing for the holding country, employment increasing, relative property development and the investment environment improving etc.; the indirect effects were consisted of the manpower capital increasing and district economy development boosting etc. The negative effects were indicated to the sports equipment knocking about, damage for the non-benefited people's life and the society's additional payout increasing etc.This paper refers to several Olympics active effect to the bidding city's economy and social development, including the effect research of the development of social economic, employment problems, construction and real estate and tour industry of the city. After this, the paper compares the development conditions Olympics'effect to the bidding cities; analyzes the effect 2008 Olympics would bring to China and Beijing's economy.At last ,make use of production function and time series model to analyze the Beijing Olympic Games to the effect of 2008 Olympic Games to the growth of the economy of Beijing,and preliminarily analyze the panel data model of it.
