Research On Ticket Pricing Of Railway Passenger Dedicated Line

In order to relieve the pressure of railway passenger transport, satisfy people's increasing travel demand and enhance railway's competitiveness in the transportation market, railway passenger dedicated lines have become the main direction of railway network medium-long term planning and their construction are well under way. Against this background, the problem of ticket pricing of passenger dedicated line (PDL) has been put on the agenda. The study of this paper is exactly to explore the scientific and reasonable pricing model and price strategies.First of all, this paper starts from the concept and economic characteristics of PDL. On the basis of concept definition, the paper systematically analyzes PDL's competitive advantages and management mode, which clarifies the economic characteristics of PDL as a new transport system and lays a foundation for pricing analysis. Secondly, a method of comparative analysis between China and foreign countries is adopted. On one hand, the paper analyzes current railway passenger transport price system, which includes the pricing basis of current railway ticket pricing, elements of ticket price, management authority, adjustment mechanism and the ticket price of CRH (China Railway High-speed), and also proposes the existing problems of current railway passenger transport price system. On the other hand, the paper particularly introduces ticket systems of overseas high speed railway. Taking the experienced operation enterprises of high speed railway as objects, such as SNCF, DB, and JR, through the analysis of their ticket pricing strategies and the comparison with China's present situation, the paper summarizes the useful references and puts forward the inspiration to pricing problem of China's PDL. Thirdly, the focal points of this paper are the analysis of PDL's pricing method and price strategies. Based on the theoretical study of pricing method, the paper discusses the influencing factors of PDL's ticket price and gives the pricing model. In respect of the suggestions on price strategies, grounded on the market observation and general strategies, the paper proposes nine policy suggestions of PDL's pricing problem, evaluates their effect and designs the implementation plan.This paper combines the research of relative project on railway passenger dedicated line, which the author has engaged in, applies the theories and methods of macroeconomics, microeconomics and transportation economics, pays attention to actual situation, and studies the problem of ticket pricing of railway passenger dedicated line. Its purpose is to provide beneficial reference for PDL's price formative mechanismand pricing strategies.
