The power industry worldwide is experiencing a reformation of breaking traditional monopoly, introducing competition and establishing electricity market. In generation-side electricity market, most countries have adopted the mode of"power plants separated form electric network, competing electric price". In the electricity market environment, the bidding behaviors of generation companies have an important influence on the healthy operation of electricity market. In this paper, learning theory in games is introduced to study the bidding strategies of generation companies, and some valuable results are obtained.Basic content of electricity market is introduced firstly, and then recent research work on bidding strategies of power suppliers in generation-side electricity market is summarized. At present most literature has studied bidding behaviors of power supplier from the viewpoint of game theory. But the assumption of perfect rationality of game theory is defective, and the rationality of power supplier in complex decision-making is difficult to satisfy the requirement of perfect rationality. In this paper, power suppliers are regarded as participants with bounded rationality and the behaviors of power suppliers are studied from the viewpoint of game learning theory. In the process of electricity trade, generation companies may form coalitions in private. This paper studies the impacts of learning behaviors of power suppliers with bounded rationality on market price in coalition and no coalition cases respectively. Then price spikes are investigated from the viewpoint of game learning theory by constructing a learning model. The behaviors of power suppliers are simulated using IEEE30 data, and the experimental results show the efficiency of understanding price spikes in this way.In the last chapter, the results of this paper are summarized and the further work is presented.
