Strategy On Hybrid Rice Extension To Asia African And Latin-American Regions

Hybrid rice was first utilized successfully in China. In 1964, Academician Yuan Longping first put forward the idea of utilization the rice heterosis and initiated the research on hybrid rice in China. After 10 years hard working, in 1973, hybrid rice was first succeeded in China and used in commercial production successfully. Due to the encouragement of China's hybrid rice, many rice planting countries realized that hybrid rice has large potential in grain yield on the same per unit area compare with the inbred rice. But more grains have to be produced on less land, with the population kept on increasing while the arable land kept on decreasing in many countries, Fortunately, in recently years, many countries in Asian, African and Latin-American have made policies respectively to encouraging and support their farmers to planting hybrid rice, which it offering good advantages for the extension of hybrid rice worldwide.To match up our government's developing strategies, it's necessary for us to research the effective methods of the overseas extension of Chinese hybrid rice technology in Asian, African and Latin-American regions, to exploit the technology route and accelerate to make the proposal for these regions, it not only have real significances but also will have positive deeply effect to the future's world form and world peace.This article analyzed the restrictive factors and advantages for the extension of hybrid rice in other countries on the basis of "Extension of Agricultural Techniques", Combine the Theory of Rice Cultivation & Extension of Agriculture Techniques with the author's years of consulting in many countries. The situation of developing hybrid rice or the extension model in these regions have been overviewed, the current main obstacles and constrains that affected the extension of hybrid rice outside China have been analyzed, some strategies to speed up the development of hybrid rice in these regions also have been made which will be a kind of consulting to our domestic seed enterprises to accelerate development of hybrid rice outside China .
