The Yangtze Delta Zone, which is the center of the west Pacific coast and Asian economic zone, is located in the middle of the sea coast line of China. It is faced with many developed country and zones such as Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and other Asian country. It has the unique advantage in developing its economy. But now, the Yangtze Delta Zone has much difficulty in playing its overall advantage because of some reasons. For example, the internal cities in the Yangtze Delta Zone usually over-compete that do harm to the overall zone. Many Scholars and experts did a lot of studies on the Yangtze Delta Zone and formed unique perspectives and suggestions which mainly focused on traditional regional economics theory. Therefore, such perspectives and suggestions can not solve such problems that occurred in the new environments. Is there any other theory that can help to solve the problems? Many experts are always looking for the new theory. By 1980s, a new theory came through into human's eye, which we called economic ecology. It is the economic ecology that provides us a new way to research on the urban agglomeration.Different lives occupy different positions and play their different roles, which we call it niche. If we introduce such niche scenes into the urban system, we easily get urban niche. It is definite that different cities play their different roles in the urban agglomeration because of their different advantages in natural recourse, human recourse, environments, culture, technological advantage and others. It is based on such background that the author tries to do some research on the economic ecology. The paper tries to widen the research range of the economic ecology from enterprises to cities and provides a new perspective on the research of the urban agglomeration.
