The Features And Contemporary Evolvement Of Large-scale Retail Stores In Kunming

Being one important member of the development in city, large-scale retail stores hold an important position. Their development has great impact upon residents' living and city spatial-structure. Especially with our cities' rapid expansion over the past 20 years and the development of market economy, as a large-scale commercial development projects, the construction of large-scale Retail Stores are gradually increasing. Then, how to Reasonably Plan large-scale retail stores to Provide convenient business services for urban residents, to rationally use city resources, has become an important issue.In this paper, central area of Kunming city is the research space scope, 1990-2008 is the research time scope. First, this paper introduces systematically the theories and research home and abroad about the spatial location of retail stores. Then, the author makes a case study of large-scale retail stores in Kunming.At the first section of the case study, the author makes a description of distribution features, category features, scale features, Grade features of large-scale retail stores in 2008 and their evolvement from 1990-2008 in Kunming. At the second section, the relations between the construction of large-scale Retail Stores and Kunming city are analyzed. Finally, the author finds out some problems between the construction of large-scale Retail Stores and Kunming city: new north district problem of Kunming, intense competition of large-scale Retail Stores in city centre of Kunming, then Offer the solution.
