Large-scale retail stores occupy an important position in city, their development has great impact upon residents'living and city spatial-structure. Especial with our cities'rapid expansion over the past 20 years and the development of market economy, as large-scale commercial development projects, the construction of large-scale retail stores are gradually increasing. Then, how to reasonably plan large-scale retail stores to provide convenient and vibrant commercial services for urban residents, to use city resources rationally, has become an important issue.This paper introduces theories and research home and abroad about the spatial location of retail stores systematically. Then, the author makes a case study of large-scale retail stores in Nanchang, each of which with the business area more than 5000 m2 in 2009. Using GIS as a research tool, we combine socio-economic factors and spatial information to research large-scale retail stores in Nanchang. chapter3 analyzes the spatial location of large-scale stores and their evolution; in chapter4, we select the convenience of status quo, population distribution and road traffic as major factors to do General superposition analysis with the use of GIS, then combines with the consumption factors, city planning and construction, layout of commercial facilities to make qualitative analysis, to explore future direction and development of the layout of Nanchang large-scale stores. Finally, this paper makes an estimation of the spatial location of retail stores in Nanchang in the future.
