Since the Opening-up and Reform, Chinese arable land resources decreases greatly with high economic development. Although China adopted the " The world's most stringent" farmland protection and management policies to prevent the encroachment of farmland, but because of the difficulty of implementation, the situation has not changed.Especially in metropolis where economy develops fast and urbanization boosts quickly, farmland non-agriculturalization is even more serious.Faced such a situation, in-depth study of the characteristic of temporal-spatial processes ,and the spatial model of farmland changing, which is very important to understand the spatial changes rule of farmland, and very significant for the future's protection policy of cultivated land making and the basic farmland delimitation.The study takes DongSanxiang County of Chaoyang District in Beijing as example .Then, make detailed plans as the following steps:Firstly, it analyses the effect of different land-use on the nearby farmland's circulation and change,and the characteristic of temporal-spatial processes of it . Secondly, it summes up the the spatial patterns of land use ,which is adjacent to the patch of farmland. Finally, The characteristics and process of farmland occupation under each spatial pattern is discussed.The main conclusion of the study are:1)It is indicated that there has a kind of spatial reletionship between the change of farmland in area and pattern and the land use nearby. Land-use types, land-use space pattern, the distance between adjacent patch, the patch size and shape are all important factors.2) Different types of land use impact the surrounding farmland in different ways and degrees.In the general situation, the risk of occupied is higher for the farmland which is adjacent to Line-like land than face shape land. And the risk of occupied is higher for the farmland which is adjacent to construction land than non- construction land .As well,the risk of that is decreasing with the distance increasing.3)Through the analysis of spatial pattern between the occupied farmland and the land surrouding,it is summarized four models: encircled model, connected model, extension model, enclave model4)Different types of land spatial pattern impact the surrounding farmland in different ways and degrees.Such as: the risk of occupied is higher for the farmland which is belong to encircled modeland connected model than others; the encircled model caused reduction in the number of farmland patches ,but connected model causes fragmentation of farmland patches.According to the conclusion, in the procedure of protecting farmland ,it should designated monitoring areas and "high-risk farmland", to foucus on the protection of farmland which is facing high-risk occupation.; designate basic farmland according to the characteristics of space ;and promote farmland "overall protection" concept.
