With the rapid development of the mobile communication technology, the traditional 2"d Generation communication system has not been able to meet people's request gradually because of the primary services of the voice and the low-speed data. 3G, featuring advanced technology and varied business types, begins to attract more and more attention from the customers. At present, the 3G system had been invested in the oversea countries, the domestic 3G second stage test already finished. It's estimated that the 3G license will be providedin our country in 2008-2009. With the aim of winning 3G market, Mobile Network Operators all begin to prepare for the construction of 3G Network.WCDMA proposed by Europe is designed for realizing compatibility with the GSM network and smoothly transiting from GSM to the 3G system. The mobile operators expect that 3G will realize the compatibility with the existing system and smooth transition for saving their investment. Therefore, WCDMA is the competitive candidate plan for our country.Study in the WCDMA system is a complex task and involves widespread domain. In this thesis, Firstly we introduce the basic concepts, main parameters and wireless network structure of WCDMA, and present the WCDMA network planning ideas. After a detailed explanation of the technical features and the key technologies of the WCDMA network, Next, we describe the planning procedure , network deployment scheme in detail. the WCDMA radio network plan are studied and suggested from coverage and capacity two aspects. The link budget, transmission model and the system capacity computational method in use of design are provided. Then, the WCDMA- system radio network plan in Zhuhai city is carried on, and the Monte-Carlo simulation is used to produce the simulation effect charts about the designed radio network. Finally, we give the summary and discuss the trend for future research work.Here is the main content of the dissertation:1. By contrasting between WCDMA and GSM networks planning, and analyzing the complexity of the WCDMA network planning, the paper proposes the key problems and facing challenges of this work.2. By making deep research on WCDMA wireless network involving in the technical theoretical basis and WCDMA systems professional knowledge, summarized a complete technical scheme and implementation method of WCDMA wireless network planning. The paper makes simulation with Monte-Carlo method on network coverage, capacity and the quality in a specific city, and gets a satisfied simulation result. 3. In the course of the concrete network planning, through calculating the network coverage and capacity to meet the requirements and comparative analysis of them, the paper proposes that the strategy and objective is meet the requirement of network coverage and quality in the beginning of network construction, meanwhile, according to the characteristic of 3G multi-service mixed, the paper proposes using method of equivalent Erlang the calculation of the data flow in service model can be convert into voice traffic .
