As the world tourism develops rapidly, its form becomes more diversified and its content gets richer day by day. Festival tourism has become increasingly prominent and becomes the darling of the new era. Facing the climax of launching tourism festivals at various regions and countries, we find it a very significant theoretical and practical proposition to study festival tourism products, combinations of tourism and festivals, and specific ways to promote the development of the local tourism economy.This thesis first makes a comprehensive literature review on festival tourism. Then it analyzes and compares the development of some famous film festivals by employing theories of human geography, tourism geography, tourism, anthropology, urban tourism, etc. After that, a film-induced festival tourism products mechanism is proposed on the basis of a case study, which collects and analyzes data from the Shanghai International Film Festival. At last, this thesis discusses the specific ways to combine film festivals and urban tourism by drawing ideas from the combination of Shanghai International Film Festival and urban tourism and the interaction among film bases of the Yangtze River Delta. This thesis includes five chapters:Chapter one is introduction. It mainly expatiates on the background and significance of the study, basic concepts, the present state of domestic and international relevant research and the framework of the thesis.Chapter two is about and theoretical basis. Life-cycle theory, city tourism theory, the core - marginal theory, theory of cultural tourism, tourism, anthropology and other theories provide a strong theoretical support for this thesis.Chapter three is about the development of domestic and overseas film festival products. It takes Cannes Film Festival as examples of overseas film festivals, Changchun Film Festival as example of domestic film festivals. This part also conducts a comparison between domestic and overseas film festival products.Chapter four is about film festival tourism products mechanism. It sums up the practice of combining Shanghai International Film Festival with tourism, and studies the public opinion about film-induced tourism products based on data collected at the Tenth International Film Festival held in Shanghai. On the basis of the data as well as interviews, some problems about such tourism products are pointed out. At last, it proposes the strategy of how to develop film festival tourism products.Chapter five is conclusion. It sums up main conclusions about film festival tourism products, and proposes some follow-up questions for further study.
