With the development of the globalization of market competition, the manufacturing industry faced with a drastic global market competition. The production model changed gradually from little variety and large quantity to multi-varieties and small batch production. The manufacturing process changed from only one enterprise to multi-enterprise with mutual complementary ability.The first issue is what to do, that is about how to deal with the object, during the process of collaboration. The second issue is who to do and how to do. That is the problem about task allocation and Schedule. How to solve these problems plays a decisive role for collaborative manufacturing.This paper is centered on the overall task and solve theses problem with project management. The task-oriented collaborative manufacturing is a process including task determination, task decomposition and task planning. The main work includes the following:(1) Based on the characteristics of collaborative manufacturing projects and the principle of decomposition for construction project, this paper presents some principles of task decomposition for collaboration manufacturing project.(2) This paper analyses the task granularity with qualitative and quantitative from constructing product function, technology-related degrees, task goals and task completed cycle.(3) Cooperative enterprises participate in the process of task decomposing dynamically by the reference library of task decomposition which is designed by this paper.(4) Critical chain is used in the project of multi-enterprise collaboration. progress plan is worked out with resource and time constrained, and buffers are added. The method of critical chain is propitious to control the whole project schedule.
