Intermediary business refers to off-sheet asset and liability,excluding the non-interest income business.It can be classified as: payment settlement business,credit card business,agency business,guarantee business,undertaking business,dealing business, fund-trust business,consultation business and other business.Because of the world economic crisis caused by financial crisis,many western counties push the rigorous financial policy,distinguishing the function of commercial bank and other financial institution,restricting the transaction scope of commercial bank.Since year 1980,the fast development of computer communication technology accelerate the innovation of financial instruments.The competition of intermediary business became more drastic in new environment.As the development level of intermediary business in our country was much more lower than that of other foreign countries,it is very important for us to pay more attention to the development of intermediary business.Chinese banks have just begun to handle intermediate business, they are required to do more and more because of the diversification of banks' credit. Moreover, with China's entry into WTO, more intensive competitions between the local banks and foreign banks is soon coming, thus they should try their best as soon as possible to focus on adjusting their strategies for doing intermediate business through getting a good understanding of it.This dissertation summarized many defects of commercial bank intermediary business development at the present time and analyzed the restricting reasons by using some theories,illustration and practice,then try to provide the suggestions to push the development of intermediary business in aspect of system,management,risk control etc.
