Research On Regional Economic Development Strategies Of Xing-Tai

Xingtai city is an important city in Hebei Province. While other cities in the province leaped forward, Xingtai's development has been on the slow track, therefore almost every economic index is below the average of the province. It is now under great pressures to fasten the development pace. First, the whole country is undergoing the process of industrialization, and some region has entered second or third phase. Each province and many cities in China have set up their own regional economic development strategies, adopting every possible means to promote the further economic development. This study would like to answer the following questions after thorough research of Xingtai's economy: how to grasp this precious opportunity; how to face the various challenges; how position the city in the big picture of Hebei Province's economic development; what are the developmental advantages of the Xingtai competed with surrounding regions; in one word, what is the reasonable developmental strategy for the city and how can we help it develop quickly?The research uses the qualitative analysis as well as quantitative analysis; micro- and macro- view analysis; horizontal and lengthways analysis. The paper stated the key economic achievements Xingtai obtained; pointed out the main problems existing in its development; analyzed the foreign and domestic environments of its development; and summarize the provincial and surrounding competitions it faced. After comparing Xingtai with other 10 cities in Hebei Province, the paper finds out Xingtai'weak points, special advantages and future development directions. In the SWOT analysis, the paper clearly listed the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats Xingtai is facing. Finally, the paper claims a reasonable position of Xingtai in Hebei Province or even in Mid-China's economic development; suggests a set of regional development strategies facilitated with relevant administrative security measures.
