Research On The Relations Between The Commodity Structure Of Foreign Trade And Industrial Structure In Liaoning Province

This paper studies the relationship between the commodity structure of foreign trade and industrial structure in Liaoning Province; the key research is put on the influence of total import and export and its classified commodities on the industrial structure Firstly, resting on the theory of international trade and industrial development, this paper combs the main viewpoint of the comparative advantage theory and the new trade theory from the foreign trade structure angle, summarizes the law about the industry evolution and the strategies that facilitate the industry development, and analyses the function channel and mechanism between the structure of foreign trade and industrial structure, furthermore analyses the tendency and main characteristics of the change in foreign trade structure and industrial structure in Liaoning Province from 1986 to 2006 within this theoretical frame. Secondly, basing on Yang Quanfa(1999)'s modification to Chenery(1975)'s semi-logarithmic regression function, this paper separately redefined the log of the amount of export and the log of the amount of import as the log of the amount of primary products, labor-intensive manufactured goods and capital-intensive industrial products on the right side of this function and then does OLS estimate by this model, and analyses the influence of import and export commodity structure on industrial structure in Liaoning Province from 1986 to 2004.From the result, the writer finds that the import and export of primary products have pulling effect mainly on The Primary Industry and The Secondary Industry, the import and export of labor-intensive industrial products have pulling effect mainly on The Secondary Industry, and the import and export of capital-intensive industrial products have pulling effect mainly on The Secondary Industry and meanwhile have a little effect on The Tertiary Industry . Therefore this paper comes to the conclusion that the import and export trade structure plays an important role in changing in the industrial structure of Liaoning Province and in the industrial optimization and upgrading. Finally, combining the conclusions of statistical analysis and empirical analysis, this paper gaves some policies and countermeasures to optimize foreign trade structure and industrial structure.
