Research On The Competence Of The International Oil Shipping Corporations

An oil shipping company must have strong comprehensive competing ability in order to survive the market and develop itself, due to the highly fierce competition in the oil shipping market. Presently, the researches dedicated to oil shipping competence are comparatively scarce. This paper ,taking the study methods of criterion analysis as well as example analysis, firstly works out a set of indicative index for the evaluation of international oil shipping companies' competence, then employs example analysis on eight international public oil shipping companies .The contents of the thesis are following:Firstly, corporation competence theories reviewReview the corporation competence theories at first, then thoroughly analyze the domestic and abroad studies on shipping corporation competence, combining with brief comment on those studies. This part serves as theory basis for the following study.Secondly, international oil shipping features and current situation analysisDiscuss the main features of international shipping industry at the first step, then analyze the current supply-demand situation of the oil shipping market. This part provides the reality basis for analyzing the international oil shipping corporations competence.Thirdly, evaluation index designingDesign a set of complete index applicable to evaluate the competence of international oil shipping corporations.Fourthly, example analysisThis is the key part of this study. Eight international public oil shipping corporations are chosen to serve as competence evaluation samples, then we apply the Catastrophe Progression Method to score . the integrate competence of those corporations. A rank is made accordingly. In the end, we probe into the business strategies and philosophies of some leading oil shipping corporations.
